History: Promoter Abe Saperstein wanted a traveling baseball club to complement his famous basketball team. He first formed the West Coast Baseball Association, a fledgling Negro League on the West Coast that disbanded after only a couple months. Upon the league's death, Saperstein repurposed it into a single team under the Globetrotters name, barnstorming the country for the next few years.

Giants pitcher Louis Polli led the International League in '43 with a 1.85 ERA. Bobby Thomson, the man who would launch the shot heard 'round the world in 1951 wore #7 for Jersey City. The Little Giants played in Roosevelt Stadium, which ironically would host several Brooklyn Dodger home games in 1956 and 57.
